I have made 13 guitars so far and have finished them by french-polishing about 12-18 coats of Tru-oil. I am happy with the results. On some more porous woods I’ve used, such as walnut, I’d like to pore fill. What’s the best filler to use? Will the oil adhere properly to Z-poxy? Tru-oil makes a filler that is compatible but I don’t know how well it works. Mixing sanding dust with the first coat of oil?
While we are at it, I wonder if you think filling pores, especially with something hard like epoxy, has any effect on tone?
