    Hi Guys

I’m going to document the process of moving into a new workshop space. along the way I will try to explain the I have come across and the successes (if there are any). Any advice along the way will be welcome. Moving and Keeping a shop open and running is really tough it seems.

To Start here is my New Space. A 550sq ft unit on the 1st floor of an industrial estate just 15 mins from where I am now.

The lighting is great as is and having I nice big widow will be fab. the walls are cold and there is no insulation, most notably the floor. the Unit is above the drive through tunnel and has a wooden suspended floor open to the elements. We will see how cold it gets in the winter.

at the moment I’m able to get the Humidity to about 50-55% with the 20l de humidifier I have but this is running almost constantly in this room size. I think also the fact it is not the most well sealed room in the world is not helping. filling in some of the brick work and closing up draughty gaps is going to be fun.

Racking needs to be made, a wall to separatee the workshop from the customer area has to go up, Benches will need to be made to.

welcome to the adventure and if you have any advice on moving and growing into a new space please let me know.

Here is a quick post relating to a possible layout for the shop. I’m already struggling to visualise it and figure out where the hell I will put the little spray area.

the Guitar rack will be going on the back wall in what will be the customer area as this wall is internal and insulated, Carpet will go down in the customer area to.

most the timber for the wall and the rack I have managed to procure for free which is a winner.

Internet has been booked in for next week

Cameras for a bit of security are on their way to

Here is the initial layout idea benches are 2ft wide

will be back soon with updates

    A little more progress today.

The guitar rack is built. It’s real simple and thrown together. If I built guitars like this they wouldn’t last long lol.

Not a single piece of the construction timber was straight so it’s a little wonky but purposes full.

I’m thinking of eventual putting does on and running a humidifier and heater etc in there. Any experience doing this sort of thing would be handy.

I have also realised I have to many junker guitars I’m taking with me. Some of these will become a bonfire I thinks.

    Next up the wall!!
