Storage rug/cushion suggestions

I have a similar cabinet and lined the drawers with velour cloth that I bought on Amazon.

I have some moving/packing paper from Uhaul, it comes in a box and there’s a million sheets in each one. It’s sort of newpapery. I assume (!!!) it’s super non-reactive.

Just wondering if you don’t really need a cushion there, just something to separate the finishes. No idea, just a thought.

Our local Ace hardware has rolls of self-adhesive cork (about 1/16” thick and a foot wide). And, the rolls are inexpensive.

And as mentioned by Paul, the packing paper works really well too. Rolls of that material can also be found at your local paint store, probably Ace too.
