    3 ply binding pulling up at the waist, 50's Gretsch

    I have a 50’s Gretsch on the bench with a thick 3 ply binding pulling up at the waist. I tried heating (gently) and using a caul to pull it back in, but it will not stay. Is the correct move to cut it, secure it, and fill the gap with binding/acetone slurry?
