wrong placed bridge
Hi,
I was asked to convert a simple guitar into a left hand version.
When I prepared to rout the new saddle slot I realised, that the bridge is about 3mm (1/8″) off. The pencil mark shows you the correct spot for the saddle slot.
Has anyone been bold enough to just glue on a piece of wood at the front of a bridge?
With all the work included the value of the guitar is maybe already under the repair. But now I am already in the middle of the job and dont want to stop.

As a quick fix, there is also doing a shelfed saddle. Like take a thick saddle and dimension the back edge to fit in the saddle slot, but leave it full width on the material outside of the slot for extra intonation area.

I have glued something in front. I couldn t figure out how to quickly fabricate the shelfed bone with a straight bottom in the slot and a curved part sitting on top of the bridge. But i will keep the idea in mind for future repairs when a too big bridge is not wanted because of reversibility or sound reasons.
