  • Quikwood and Titebond?

Doing some repair work and I am missing original wood and adding new wood back in would be extremely difficult. I’ve had success using Quikwood as a filler in the past and finished over it with no issue. In this case I would need to add Quikwood to fill in a void and then use Titebond to glue on a veneer over that. The glue surface would be about 25% Quikwood and 75% actual wood.

Before I do this, any issues with Titebond adhering to Quikwood? Or any wood filler I guess? Thanks!

I like the Quick Wood product, which is actually just epoxy putty, but I would guess Titebond isn’t going to work really well on it. I do veneer over it all the time with Loctite Gel CA from Homedepot. Do you have a pic of the affliction ?

This headstock break was previously sanded and uneven. My guess is whoever did this previously did not use a sanding block. As a result, the left side (as you look down from the top of the headstock) has a dip in it from just after where the nut would sit that extends about 2.5″ up towards the tip of the headstock until it levels out again. My thought was to put some Quikwood in there as it would easily adapt to those odd contours and could be sanded back quickly to level. From there I would then slap a new veneer on w/ Titebond and cover up all that ugly stuff.

Thank you. That makes sense. I have peghead veneer that is a bit too thick to bend into there but those thin ones you posted would work.

I’m assuming you put foam side down onto the surface with the veneers? Interesting move. I like it. Thank you.
