When do you make the call to pull a lifting bridge and reglue?
I’m not sure if there is a good rule of thumb for when it’s ok to slip a little glue under a slightly lifting bridge.
Couple things to note (I would only do this on a really cheap guitar) if it was glued with something like titebond, the only way to reglue a titebond joint, without cleaning the old glue out, is with epoxy. Then your joint is…

Yes. The pickup is brand new but not having any luck getting it to work. Have tried multiple configurations – wouldn’t think the pickup would be defective.

Are you trying to test for signal to make sure it works before installing it? If you have a spare quick connect clip you can wire in a battery clip and output jack, then ring a tuning fork over it with the jack plugged into a tuner or amp.

I’m not super smart and all of this is on the outer edge of my ability to understand things, but for me, Guiliano’s methods are the ones that are most approachable to me and additionally he’s been exceptionally helpful in talking to luthiers here and elsewhere.

Hey y’all, I’ve got a mid budget lefty acoustic in the shop for some work and one of the bridge wings is starting to pull up.
I know some people are content to just squeeze some glue under and reclamp, but from what I can see underneath it the finish goes back a long way before we even start to touch the wood, if ever. So I’m leaning…

Maybe a dull topic but I just happened to find this Conn Strobotuner at an antique shop for a “decent” price. Works great, not sure if I’ll use it in place of the peterson strobe app on my ipad but in conjunction for certain jobs .
