Deflection vs. Frequency for measuring flexural modulus
I agree that the regression basically shows no fit at all. What are the units you are using on the X and Y axis? They don’t line up will values I would expect to see. E.g., what are the deflection units (are 9/5 to 13 in thousandths?), and the frequency units (10-13 doesn’t make any sense to me for frequency units).

Deflection vs. Frequency for measuring flexural modulus
I’ve been testing all my top and bracewood to find the best combination of stiffness and density, optimize plate thickness, etc. I started with Nicoletti’s spreadsheet which calculates both stiffness and density, but since I was also testing deflection, I decided to compare the flexural modulus using that method (with the formula from T.…

I often get jobs changing the type of tuners on a guitar. In this case, the customer wanted open back Waverly style put on a guitar with sealed tuners. I have conversion bushings for 10mm holes, but they don’t fit tight and fall out. I need to plug and drill smaller holes to fit the bushings. I hate trying to find the center of a dowel…

A client has asked me to build an acoustic guitar using crelicam ebony for the back and sides that he is getting form Stewmac. I have heard it’s challenging to bend, and this will be an OM so the waist is pretty tight. Any thoughts or suggestions for bending these sides? I use a homemade bending machine modelled after LMI’s latest design (may…

If you’re getting it from axiom inc, you can laminate it together to get to the right dimension if you’re short and then trim down with the binding sizer. The stewmac binding lamination jig works pretty well. Just let it dry overnight for best results.

Hi Paul…mine may have come from eBay- I don’t quite remember. This weekend I used 1 of those infrared temperature guns all across the entire surface of my blanket while it lay flat on my bench. Mine is getting hot and is relatively evenly distributed.
When I bend I use a food thermometer, one with a 4 inch probe. After I assemble my sandwich…
