Replacing Nylon Saddles on a Gibson SB-400 bass
I need some advice on replacing some saddles.
I have been restoring a “dumpster dive” 1972 Gibson SB-400 bass, with a Multiplex bridge. It has nylon saddles, one of which has a crack. The screws upon which the saddles ride are not removable, as the end has an enlarged cap (see picture).
How do I replace the saddles without destroying the…

I recently took the neck off a 1972 Gibson SB-400 Bass.
The tenon is 1″ X 3 1/8″. Foam cutters were used.

When chips happen--customers, expectations, and responsibility
Hey all, I am really enjoying digging through the looth group. I have not yet watched all the ding kings vids or read all the amazing comments and articles here, but I’ve been appreciating some of the loothing for dollars stuff, seeing other people’s intake sheets, discussions about dealing with customers, and it led me to this question:
How…

Hi everybody, I’ve been on the LG for a couple of years and just joined the Irish group now as I have recently relocated to Dublin.
I’m Italian, I’ve been building and repairing guitars for about 5 years, mostly in Stockholm, Sweden, and I am now in the process of setting up my (really tiny) workshop in Stoneybatter.

Mid-90s Gibson acoustic finish adhesion
A fella left his 1994 Gibson Blues King locked in a damp garden shed through a hot humid summer. See attached pics!
The clear coat has lost adhesion pretty much everywhere on the neck, back and sides, and is starting to let go on the top too in places. But 95% of the colour underneath seems to be hanging in there.
Customer is open to a…

It was only a matter of time before one of these arrived on my bench. The neck on this 71 SG Deluxe is caving through to the neck pickup cavity— In a similar fashion to what happens on old jr’s. Both sides of the cutaway have cracks that extend through to the pickup route and I can flex them easily. Problem is that the cracks are not straight…
