amp hum/buzz, single coils, and grounding
Oh, and this is a thinline tele (but without an f-hole). So the only parts I could easily shield would be the neck pickup cavity and pickguard.

amp hum/buzz, single coils, and grounding
Hey Gerry. Yeah, the bridge pickup does the same although maybe not quite as loud. Still very noticeable though. The pickups aren’t RWRP. So the middle position, unfortunately, isn’t hum cancelling.
Not sure if this might be a factor, but I broke the neck pickup coil wire around the eyelet for the hot connection and had to carefully unwrap a…

amp hum/buzz, single coils, and grounding
Hey Ben
Shielding might help. I’ve seen it work wonders but I’ve also seen it make only minimal difference. The control cavity on a Tele isn’t too fiddly to shield so it might be worth a try. Is the bridge pickup doing the same? -
Black Grain Filler Under EM6000?
I have a feeling that you might want to use something other than epoxy to do the black grain fill. Ideally, if you put it on raw wood, you’d want to sand it back so that only the black is left in the grain. But it seems risky on raw wood. I think sealing the wood first is a good way to go, even if it all gets sanded off again when you’re…

ok. so i have gerry’s wiring book (which is awesome) and i’ve read that, if all your ground connections are correct and you have a buzz that goes away when you touch the strings then the guitar is grounding you.
here’s a clip of an mjt tele that’s pretty noisy through the amp til i touch the strings. i’ve triple checked the ground…

I don’t think the StewMac gold wire is EVO stuff. They’re a little vague about the alloy but it seems different. I was talking with someone about it recently and looked into it a little.
EVO is an alloy containing copper, tin, iron, and titanium. Stew Mac’s page mentions that their gold wire is primarily a C425 copper alloy which is copper,…

I just wrote Jescar about EVO gold. They said they still have some limited stock available for sale. I would give them a call as the website may not show availability.
I used SM gold on my last build with no regrets, they have a variety of sizes. Maybe SM wire is Jescar???

Black Grain Filler Under EM6000?
I am switching from NC lacquer to EM6000. I also want to switch from black WB filler to blackened epoxy grain fill.
My question relates to keeping the color in the pores and off the surface wood, and whether to vinyl seal before and/or after epoxy fill, I already know how to tint epoxy black.
Could black grain fill style be accomplished…
