Anybody know of a 12v transformer they’d recommend to adapt this MicroMark sander to a standard USA 120v outlet? I’ve never seen this type of connector before.
MicroMark have their own power supply that accepts that weird proprietary plug. In some circumstances, I’d recommend just getting another power supply and jury-rigging something but the MM power supply puts out a lot of amps. Don’t know for sure if the sander needs so much current but probably worth playing it safe and doing things the right way (the MicroMark way). https://www.micromark.com/The-High-Power-Transformer-4
I know $65 isn’t a lot in the grand scheme of things, I just resent it’s the only option they give me. I have a generic 12v transformer arriving today and was going to strip the plug, connect it to the current pins and see what happens. I’ll follow up here if I don’t burn my shop down.
Hope it works out. If the sander has a spec plate, try to make sure your new PSU has sufficient output and matching voltage for the sander. Stay safe. 🙂
Yep. A standard 12v transformer did the trick. I used this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GEA8PQA and it included a a bare wire connector that made it so I only had to hack off the plug side of the sander. I’m gonna go make some bone nuts with this little thing now!
