  • Screw Inventory List?

Posted by Daniel Petrzelka on January 15, 2025 at 3:10 pm

With the Gridfinity storage system, I’ve been considering getting my hardware collection in order. I have little zip locks of various Fender and Gibson-size screws for pickguards, pickups, necks, tuners, truss rod covers, and on and on.

Have any of you created a master spreadsheet of screw styles/sizes that are most used for all of these applications?

    ie:

Fender US saddle height screws: 4-40 x 3/8″ Hex Screws and 4-40 x 5/16″ Hex Screws

    Fender Neck-mounting screws #<em style=”font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; letter-spacing: 0px;”>8 x 1-3/4” Oval Head Philips sheet metal screws

Fender Pickguard / Control Plate mounting screws: #4 x 1/2″ Phillips

    Gibson Pickguard Screws #3 x 3/8″ Phillips

Maybe someone has a master screw inventory list already started?

Ooh, definitely following this thread. I’ve been planning on making such a spreadsheet for YEARS.

I’d be interested, but it is a vast subject and I think I wouldn’t be able to fit everything into grid finity.

I like the idea of doing that though!

I currently just group as much of my hardware into the these parts boxes as possible.

For me it makes it easier when I know what part of the instrument I’m working on, so I can just go right to it’s respective hardware.

So far have grouped as follows:

-guitar body screws (pickguards, neck screws)

      -pickups (mounting screws and springs)

      -switches (tips, screws, switches)

-small random nuts and bolts for oddball instruments (metric and imperial)

-pots, (their knobs, washers and nuts)

-tuners, (so their nuts, washers, screws, some locking nuts and strings trees)

-cable management (cable ties, and anything acoustic preamp related)

-soldering (spare soldering tips, croc clips wire, heat shrink etc.. )

then the last two boxes are just hardware for jig making

and I’ve still got drawers full of pickup rings and other larger items that do not fit in these boxes 😒
