I might be sending a guitar to Germany. I have no idea how I would go about shipping it. Is there an obvious choice for a carrier? DHL or something? It’s a $2k guitar and I’ve tried to talk the guy out of buying it, I’m scared shipping might be horrendous.

If it’s $2500 or less I always use usps. They have the best rates by quite a lot unless you have a negotiated rate with another shipper.

Pirate Ship makes it pretty easy to get the best discount for shipping.

Make sure your custom forms are correct and it’s fully insured and it should be a pretty painless transaction.

they do have a maximum box size to ship and 50 x 20 x 9 is right on the cusp so go with a bit smaller if possible otherwise you’ll have to re pack or use a different carrier.

Are you able to insure through Pirate Ship? I’m not seeing an option yet. Finally this guy is going to buy the guitar (I hope).
