About this Loothcut project
This is a rehash of the amazing Loothprint that Mike (@mustcreatethings) shared to the group (Surface Inspection Light – The Looth Group). I don’t have a 3D printer so had to take a low(er) tech approach. The pics should be self explanatory. I have linked to a DXF and CRV (Vectric VCarve) file in case it helps. I do most simple tooling in Aspire as I can move more quickly there than in Fusion. I’ve included a .crv file with the toolpaths and a DXF if using another program.
The two halves are glued together after cutting. The pocket for the light is centered over the middle of the chamfer. Make any adjustments as needed if repositioning the mirror or changing the size of the base, etc… The top plate pocket is a tight friction fit for the specific flashlight. Make adjustments as needed if using a different flashlight. Works great, and thanks to Mike for the inspiration!
Components needed:
- .75″ Baltic birch ply
- Flashlight – https://a.co/d/aYeAi2O
- Mirror – https://a.co/d/3pA5IJr (or similar… any 1″ square adhesive backed mirror is fine)
- Cork (optional) – https://a.co/d/9TK4JUG (or similar)
