  1. Fascinating interview! Thanks to Michael, Greg, Ian, et al.
I’m still a novice in this craft, building for six years and repairing for two. I only discovered the concept of adjustable neck relief through the Ken Parker YouTube videos published a few years ago.
Since seeing Ken’s version, and a few others, my question to the builders is: How often does this come up? How many players want one guitar capable of radically different string actions? Do the players make adjustments to the action during a performance? Or, do they grab the next guitar off of the rack?
Is there a viable community of players seeking this technology, or is this a situation where the builders are outpacing the demand?
Thanks again for all you folks share on this forum!

  2. Hi Chip: Glad you enjoyed in the interview. I don’t think many players are seeking radically different actions from the same guitar, or to adjust it during performace on the fly. I do think players would like a guitar that is easy to keep at a constant action despite seasonal, and string gauge changes and changes from settling in due to age. I also think players would appreciate the ease and lower cost of maintenance for adjusting the neck angle and action as needed, not to mention removable necks for travel. So overall I don’t think that builders are outpacing the demand for adjustable/removable neck joints. I think it is more a matter of market acceptance.
