Good call, I expect that will eliminate the layer lines to make the angle.
I will try that, and once improved, will do other degrees as well.

One thing you might try is changing the orientation to have it on the side. You might print it as a block of 5 so it self supports and then split after. I bet @patreon_41670846 might know how to do that.

Just finished first attempt at a neck shim. This is 1 degree, solid infill.
I will post, and work on 1/2 and 1/4 degree as well. Change fill to 100, and must be rectilinear.

I use two heat lamps. Scott St. Dennis uses a heat lamp as well in his vids. I think this system works well because it heats up neck from underneath as well. I think you need to put it/them closer and get the heat up higher than 180 as the glue is probably pva and titebond says starts to soften at 150 but I think the glue used is probably…

Another win for the Doug Proper Eric Clampton jig on a 1935 L-4 Gibson – applying as
much force as I dared. I recently used it for several Martin waist binding
repairs as well. -

FYI to any would-be heat pressers here- the Aria one works great (it’s the main one used in our shop), and I’m sure I’ve used it on over a hundred guitars, but you can make your own pretty easily. Large chunk of square stock with a strip heater element mounted inside it. I think those two things cost me about $60 US if you have a metal…

Need help with 1915 Gibson Mandolin
Man I feel like I’ve done more of these than I care to remember. Most come together great, others, meh.
The first thing I do is bag it up and humidify it really well for a week or so. This will swell the back closer to its original shape. The back shrinkage over the last 100 years is definitely a contributing factor. Then I have two cauls; one…

Quick question - Erlewine neck jig and Proper workstation
The “Proper’s Guitar Workstation ” from Total Vise does allow you to simulate string tension with the additional expansion package that they sell.
The difference between that and the SM neck jig, is that the neck jig is designed with the dial indicators built in under the neck. My preference has always been to read the board and not the back of…
